MF industry net inflows fall over 70% to INR 602.95 bln in Nov, says AMFI

MUMBAI – Net inflows in the mutual fund industry shrunk by over 70% on month to INR 602.95 billion in November, as per the monthly data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India. The assets under management of the mutual fund industry grew by 1.2% on month and stood at INR 68.08 trillion as of Nov. 30.
The net inflows into open-ended debt funds fell by 91.7% on month to INR 129.16 billion. In the open-ended equity funds, they were down 14.2% on month to INR 359.43 billion, and for hybrid funds, net inflows were down 75.5% on month to INR 41.24 billion, the data showed.
Within open-ended debt funds, liquid funds saw net outflows of INR 17.78 billion and overnight funds saw net inflows of INR 20.19 billion, AMFI data showed. The assets under management of overall open-ended debt mutual funds saw a marginal growth of 1.3% on month to INR 16.86 trillion.
In the case of open-ended equity funds, sectoral and thematic funds remained favourable for investors as it saw net inflows of INR 76.58 billion in November. Three new fund offers were launched in this category, which garnered INR 27.51 billion.
Net inflows into small-cap funds and mid-cap funds stood at INR 41.12 billion and INR 48.83 billion, respectively. The flows into these funds have been increasing for the past three months, AMFI data showed. The assets under management of open-ended equity funds also grew slightly by 1.6% on month to INR 30.36 trillion.
Arbitrage funds was the only fund which saw net outflows of INR 13.53 billion in November within the hybrid category. During the month, two new fund offers were launched in this category, which garnered INR 1.40 billion. Multi Asset Allocation Funds saw net inflows of INR 24.43 billion, highest in the hybrid segment. The assets under management of hybrid funds were almost flat on month at INR 8.77 trillion as on Nov. 30.
Index funds saw net inflows of INR 43.43 billion. Gold exchange traded funds saw net inflows of INR 12.56 billion and other exchange traded funds saw net inflows of INR 15.31 billion in November.
The assets under management of systematic investment plans increased to INR 13.54 trillion as on Nov. 30, slightly higher than INR 13.30 trillion reported a month ago. The net inflows into systematic investment plans slowed down in the reporting month to INR 253.20 billion from INR 253.23 billion as reported a month ago. End
