NEW DELHI - The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs Friday approved the expansion of phase IV of the Delhi Metro, with an outlay of INR 62.30 billion to be spent over four years from the date of sanction. The extension will cover the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor, a distance of 26.46 kilometres.
This expansion of the metro rail in the national capital will be implemented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corp. Ltd., the special purpose vehicle in which the central government and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi are equal partners.
The expansion of phase IV of the Delhi Metro will boost connectivity in the northwestern parts of the national capital in areas such as Narela, Bawana, and Rohini. The stretch will comprise 21 stations, all elevated, according to a government press release.
Work on phase IV of the Delhi Metro had begun with construction of three priority corridors of total length 65.20 km with 45 stations. This is expected to be completed by March 2026, according to the release. End
