MUMBAI - Eicher Motors Ltd, the maker of Royal Enfield motorcycles, on Sunday reported a 2% on-year growth in two-wheeler despatches for November. The company despatched a total of 82,257 motorcycles in November, compared with 80,251 units in the year-ago period, and 110,574 units in October, according to an exchange filing.
The company's overall motorcycle sales were boosted by a sharp increase in exports, which helped offset the impact of lower domestic sales. Its motorcycle despatches in India fell by nearly 4% on year to 72,236 units during the month, while international business volumes surged 96% on year to 10,021 units. Sales of motorcycles with engine capacity of up to 350cc fell 4% year to 71,261 units in November, while models with engine capacity exceeding 350cc jumped 84% on year to 10,996 units, the company said.
On Friday, shares of Eicher Motors closed 0.3% higher at INR 4,831.85 on the National Stock Exchange. End
