Uptick in PV sales drives Tata Motors total volume Nov; CV sales slightly down

MUMBAI – Tata Motors Ltd. sold a total of 74,753 vehicles in November, including passenger and commercial vehicles, marking an on-year growth of 0.8%. A slight increase in passenger vehicle despatches in November helped the automaker offset the impact of lower commercial vehicle volumes on overall sales.

 

During the month, the automaker sold a total of 73,246 units in India, against 72,647 units in the year-ago period. However, its exports declined 1% on year to 1,507 units.

 

In November, the Tata Group company sold a total of 47,117 passenger vehicles, up 2% from 46,143 units in the year-ago period. In India, it sold 47,063 units, compared to 46,068 units a year ago. In comparison, its exports fell to 54 units from 75 units in the same period last year. In the electric passenger vehicle segment, the company recorded total sales of 5,202 units during the month, up 9% on year.

 

In the commercial vehicle category, Tata Motors sold a total of 27,636 units in November, down 1% from 28,029 units in the year-ago period. Its domestic sales fell 1% on year to 26,183 units, and exports were flat on year at 1,453 units. In November, the company's despatches of heavy trucks fell 8% on year to 7,586 units and those of small commercial vehicles fell 5% on year to 11,201 units.

 

Nearly 68% of Tata Motors' commercial vehicle sales came from these two segments in November. In comparison, sales of passenger carriers jumped by 42% on year to 3,022 units, and despatches of intermediate, light and medium trucks were flat on year at 4,374 units. 

 

On Friday, shares of Tata Motors ended 0.9% higher at INR 786.45 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
