MUMBAI – TVS Motor Co. Ltd. on Sunday reported healthy year-on-year growth in total sales for November as despatches for most segments grew from a year ago. The Chennai-based company sold a total of 401,250 vehicles in November, up 10% from 364,231 units in the year-ago period, but lower than 489,015 units sold in October, according to an exchange filing.

In the two-wheeler category, the company sold a total of 392,473 units in November, up 12% on year. Its domestic two-wheeler sales rose 6% on year to 305,323 units. Domestic sales accounted for 78% of the total two-wheeler volumes during the month. Two-wheeler exports registered growth of 34% on year to 87,150 units. 

In November, TVS Motor sold 180,247 motorcycles, registering a growth of 4% on year. In comparison, its scooter despatches jumped by 22% to 165,535 units. The company's electric scooter sales surged by 57% on year to 26,292 units. 

During the month, the company also sold 8,777 three-wheelers, down 28% from 12,128 units in the year-ago period. Its total exports, including those of three-wheelers, jumped 25% on year to 93,755 units.

During Apr-Nov, the company sold a total of 3.21 million vehicles, up 13.4% from 2.83 million vehicles sold in the year-ago period. Two-wheeler sales in India have grown by nearly 14% on year to 2.44 million units, and exports expanded by 18% on year to 680,695 units. On the electric two-wheeler front, the company sold 182,658 units for the period, registering a growth of 37% on year. However, sales of three-wheelers contracted by 15% on year to 88,372 units. O

n Friday, shares of TVS Motor ended 0.8% higher at INR 2,434.45 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
