MUMBAI – Hyundai Motor India Ltd. on Sunday reported an on-year decline in total passenger vehicle sales for November, dragged down by lower domestic volumes and exports. India's second-largest passenger vehicle maker sold 61,252 units in November, down from 65,801 units in the year-ago period, and 70,078 units sold in October.
In India, the company sold 48,246 units in November, registering a decline from 49,451 units in the year-ago period, and 55,568 units sold in October. "HMIL's (Hyundai Motor's) push towards fortifying SUV (sport utility vehicle) supremacy continued in November with SUVs contributing 68.8% of our total domestic sales. We also bolstered HMIL’s presence in the hinterland of India, by achieving the highest-ever monthly rural contribution of 22.1% in November," the company's whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said.
In November, Hyundai Motor exported 13,006 units, down from 16,350 units in November 2023, and 14,510 units in October. During Apr-Nov, the company exported 145,816 units, down nearly 3% from 149,975 units in the year-ago period. During the same period, it sold 563,225 units in India, compared to 559,361 units in Apr-Nov 2023.
On Friday, shares of Hyundai Motor ended 0.7% higher at INR 1,916.55 on the National Stock Exchange. End
