NEW DELHI – The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation is looking to shift to an entirely new information technology system, called the EPFO 3.0 by June, a top official at the Ministry of Labour and Employment said.
Prior to moving to EPFO 3.0, the organisation will implement EPFO 2.01, a revamped version of the existing system, by December to ease processes and turnaround time for subscribers, the official said. Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had said in August that the provident fund organisation would migrate to EPFO 2.01 within the next three months.
"EPFO 3.0 will be of international standards," the official said. "It may even allow employees to withdraw a part of their EPFO corpus through ATMs (automated teller machines)," the official said on the condition of anonymity.
Subscribers have for long complained about problems with EPFO's website and software. Last year, reports said that officers within the EPFO had written a letter to the government complaining about archaic and "collapsing" software systems. End
