MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department said extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over parts of north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Friday and Saturday.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over parts of Kerala, south interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseems during the weekend, the IMD said.

The IMD said the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to move northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts around Saturday morning with a wind speed of 50–60 kilometres per hour gusting to 70 km/hour. The weather bureau has asked fishermen not to venture into the southwest and westcentral Bay of Bengal till Saturday evening. "Fishermen out at sea are advised to return to the coast," it said.

The weather department also said dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Bihar till Saturday. Similar conditions are likely over Uttar Pradesh till Monday morning hours.

During the next five days, minimum temperatures in west and central India other than Madhya Pradesh are likely to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius, the IMD said. However, no large change in minimum temperatures is seen over northwest and east India during the next five days. End
