MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast an orange alert for a very heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. A very heavy spell of rains is also seen over parts of Puducherry and Karaikal from Tuesday to Thursday and over Kerala and Mahe on Thursday under the influence of a low pressure area that is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around Saturday, the weather agency said.

Heavy rainfall is also likely over the Nicobar Islands till Monday, the weather bureau said. The department has forecast hailstorms over Meghalaya Friday. 

Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail during late night and morning hours in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh till Sunday, Uttarakhand over the weekend and on Himachal Pradesh from Saturday to Tuesday, the weather bureau said. 

In terms of temperature, any significant change in minimum temperatures is unlikely over the western Himalayan region during the next two days and a gradual fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius thereafter. A rise in minimum temperatures by 1-2 degrees Celsius is very likely over remaining parts of northwest India during the next three days and no large change thereafter.

The western agency sees no significant change in minimum temperatures over central India during the next two days and a rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius thereafter. Any significant change in minimum temperatures is also unlikely over east and west India during the next five days.  End
