MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall over parts of Kerela and Mahe on Monday, and over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal till Tuesday. The weather agency has also predicted hailstorms over parts of Assam and Meghalaya on Wednesday and Thursday.

During the week, dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail at night and in the morning hours in parts of east Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, the weather bureau said. Dense fog is also likely over parts of west Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand during the week, it said.

The agency said that a cyclonic circulation lies over the Kanyakumari area and its neighbourhood at lower tropospheric levels. Another cyclonic circulation lies over south Bangladesh and its neighbourhood, and extends up to lower tropospheric levels. A cyclonic circulation is an atmospheric wind flow at the upper levels associated with any low pressure system. 

Meanwhile, a gradual fall of two-three degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is likely over central India in the next five days, while and a drop of two-four degrees Celsius is seen over Maharashtra and Gujarat, IMD said. There will be no change in minimum temperatures in northwest and east India in the next five days, it said.  End
