Maruti Suzuki India's production marginally up at 177,312 units in Oct

MUMBAI - Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. Monday reported a marginal year-on-year growth in its total production in October. India's largest passenger carmaker manufactured a total of 177,312 units during the month, against 176,437 units in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing by the company.
The company manufactured 173,662 passenger vehicles in October, compared with 173,230 units in the year-ago period. Output of utility vehicles rose to 72,339 units during the month from 54,316 units a year ago. However, production of mini and compact vehicles fell to 87,794 units from 104,856 units in the year-ago period.
Production of light commercial vehicles in October was 3,650 units compared with 3,207 units in the year-ago period.
For the quarter ended September, Maruti Suzuki posted a 17% on-year fall in net profit to INR 30.69 billion on account of higher tax outgo. Revenue for the quarter was INR 372.03 billion against INR 370.62 bln a year ago.
At 1339 IST, shares of the company were down 1.5% at INR 10,941.05 on the National Stock Exchange. End
