IMD sees isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Kerala Monday

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department expects isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu and Kerala Monday, and again from Friday till Nov. 11. The weather bureau also said a cyclonic circulation lies over the southeast Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels.
Heavy rainfall is very likely over parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, and south interior Karnataka this week, the weather bureau said. No significant change in weather is expected in the rest of the country during the week, it said.
In view of the heavy rainfall, the weather department has asked farmers to drain out excess water from fields of paddy and other crops, vegetables and orchards. It has also asked them to keep the harvested produce in safer places and provide mechanical support to horticultural crops.
During the past 24 hours, parts of south Tamil Nadu received heavy to very heavy rainfall, the department said. Isolated heavy rainfall was recorded over Kerala and south interior Karnataka, it said.
The weather bureau said moderate to dense fog conditions are very likely over parts of northeast Uttar Pradesh during the morning hours of Monday and Tuesday. End
