--FSIB recommends Ashok Chandra as MD, CEO of Punjab National Bank 

NEW DELHI – The Financial Services Institutions Bureau has recommended Ashok Chandra as the next managing director and chief executive officer of Punjab National Bank. The tenure of Atul Kumar Goel, the current managing director and chief executive officer, will end on Dec. 31. Goel has held the post since February 2022.

Chandra is an executive director at Canara Bank and holds a Masters in Economics and is also a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers.

"Financial Services Institutions Bureau interfaced with 16 candidates on Oct. 26 and Oct. 28 for the position of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in Punjab National Bank. Keeping in view their performance in the interface, overall experience and the extant parameters, the Bureau recommends Ashok Chandra for the position of MD & CEO in PNB," the bureau said in a release.

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau is an autonomous government body that recommends personnel for appointments on the boards of banks and other financial institutions. 

Punjab National Bank on Monday reported a 145.1% on-year jump in net profit to INR 43.03 billion for the quarter ended September. Shares of the bank Monday ended 3.1% higher at INR 98.64 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
