NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez Monday inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Complex, India's first private military transport aircraft production facility, in Gujarat's Vadodara. The plant will manufacture C295 aircraft at the TATA Advanced Systems Ltd. campus in collaboration with Spain's Airbus. Spain's Prime Minister Sanchez, who is on his maiden visit to India for three days, said the first aircraft from the Tata Advanced Systems facility will be manufactured in 2026.

As part of the first ‘Make in India’ aerospace programme in the private sector, Airbus will deliver the first 16 aircraft in fly-away condition from its final assembly line in Seville, Spain, while the remaining 40 aircraft will be manufactured and assembled by TATA Advanced Systems at the Vadodara facility.

Asserting that "India's defence manufacturing ecosystem is reaching new heights", Modi said "the C295 aircraft factory reflects the new work culture of a new India... Today, the speed with which India is working on any scheme right from the idea to its execution is visible here."

According to Prime Minister Modi, "From today, we are giving a new direction to India and Spain's partnership. We are inaugurating the production factory of C295 aircraft. This factory will strengthen India-Spain relations... It will also strengthen our 'Make in India, Make for the World' mission. This ecosystem will help make the first civil aircraft in the country."

Spain's Prime Minister Sanchez said, "In addition to contributing to modernising India's defence capabilities, the facility will drive technological development, particularly for the state of Gujarat, India's leading manufacturing hub. Thousands of direct and indirect jobs will be created here and a new generation of highly qualified engineers and technicians will be trained."  End
