NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the world needs stability, sustainability, trust, and transparency in every society or supply chain and no region can have a better future without these values. Prime Minister Modi, along with German Chancellor Olaf Scholaz, inaugurated the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in New Delhi. The event aims to bolster trade and investment relations between Germany and the Indo-Pacific region.
Modi held that the Indo-Pacific region is very important for the future of the world. He said that the region's contribution to global growth, population and skills is enormous. The prime minister underlined the role of the Asia-Pacific Conference in strengthening the ties between the European Union and the Asia Pacific region.
Asserting that it is becoming the hub of global trade and manufacturing, Modi called companies from Germany and other nations to invest in India. "India is becoming a centre of diversification and de-risking. It is becoming the hub of global trade and manufacturing. This is the most appropriate time for you to Make in India and Make for the World," Modi said.
The prime minister hailed Germany's decision to increase the visa number for the skilled Indian workforce from 20,000 to 90,000. He said that it will give a new pace to Germany's growth.
Highlighting the impetus given to infrastructure development and the semiconductor as well as the artificial intelligence sector under his government, Modi said this is the right time to connect with India's growth story. "This is the time and right time to get involved in India's growth story. When India's dynamism and Germany's precision meet, when Germany's engineering and India's innovation meet and when Germany's technology and India's talent meet - it ensures a better future for the world, including the Indo-Pacific," Modi said.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Scholz, in his opening remarks, said that his government wants a free trade agreement between the European Union and India. "Today, we are meeting in the world's biggest democracy. The fastest growing major economy in the world with the most rapidly expanding renewable energy sector of any major economy. A country at the heart of the world's most dynamic region - the Asia Pacific. In a nutshell, the Asia Pacific conference has come to the right place at the right time. Prime Minister Modi, thank you very much for your kind hospitality," said Scholz.
Before the inauguration of the Asia Pacific conference, Scholz met Modi at the prime minister's residence. Scholz arrived in India on Thursday. He was also scheduled to co-chair the 7th Inter-Governmental Conference, a biannual meeting involving ministers from both sides. On Saturday, Scholz will visit Goa and then depart from India. End
