India August outstanding NRI deposits $158.95 bln, up $16.96 bln on year

MUMBAI – Outstanding deposits by non-resident Indians rose to $158.95 billion at the end of August, up by $16.96 billion from a year ago, according to provisional data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Monday. The total outstanding NRI deposits at the end of July were $157.16 billion.
Deposits under the Non-Resident (External) Rupee Account at the end of August were $100.54 billion, up from $99.98 billion a month ago. The outstanding deposits under the Foreign Currency Non-Resident (B) rose to $29.20 billion at the end of August from $28.57 bln a month ago. End
