NEW DELHI – The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has named Vikram Dev Dutt as coal secretary and V. Umashankar as road secretary, the government said in a circular on Saturday.
Dutt, who currently holds the position of director general in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, will replace Coal Secretary V.L. Kantha Rao. Dutt is a 1993-batch Indian Administrative Services officer from the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territory cadre.
Umashankar, also a 1993-batch officer, is currently posted in his cadre in Hyderabad. He would take the charge of road secretary from Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal, who has been holding it as an additional charge for the last two weeks. End
