NEW DELHI – Department of Financial Services Secretary Nagaraju Maddirala will review the financial performance of public sector banks on Oct. 30, an official aware of the development said Saturday. "It will be a routine meeting where the secretary will take stock of PSU banks' Jul-Sept financial results," the official told Informist.

The meeting with top executives of all public sector banks will happen in the national capital, and will likely discuss various aspects of the banking sector, including the need for improving deposits, lending to small ticket borrowers and cybersecurity risks, the official said.

The financial services department chairs these review meetings every quarter. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is on an official tour abroad currently, will meet bankers in November, the official said. The date for this meeting is yet to be finalised.

The last such review meeting was held on Aug. 19, chaired by Sitharaman.  End
