NEW DELHI – A court in Delhi today granted bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, and his sons RJD leaders Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav in the alleged land-for-jobs scam case probed by the Enforcement Directorate. The court granted bail to the RJD leaders on a personal bond of INR 100,000 each, noting that they were not arrested during the probe.
Earlier, the court had summoned the accused in the case after taking cognisance of the second supplementary chargesheet by the Enforcement Directorate. On Oct. 4, 2023, the court had granted bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav in the same case probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
In October 2022, the CBI had filed its first chargesheet in the case against 16 accused, including Lalu Yadav, his wife, and his daughter Misa Bharti. The CBI has alleged that several residents of Bihar were appointed as substitutes in group D posts from 2004 to 2009 in the railway zones of Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur.
In lieu of the appointments, the individuals or their families transferred plots of land in the name of family members of the then Union minister of railways Lalu Prasad and a company called A.K. Infosystems Pvt. Ltd., which was taken over by his family members. The Enforcement Directorate filed its case based on the Central Bureau of Investigation's first information report in the case. End
