--NSE Chauhan: Will work with SEBI on choice of solo index for weekly F&O

GANDHINAGAR - The National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. is yet to take a call on selecting a single weekly index as directed by the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India in its circular on Tuesday, Ashish Chauhan, managing director and chief executive officer of NSE, said Thursday.

 

"Our teams will get to go through all the details and work with the regulator on their opinion," he said on the sidelines of an event at GIFT City. "Whatever the regulator recommends, we will take it to our board for final approval," Chauhan said.

 

On measures initiated by stock market regulators to curb volatility in the markets, Chauhan said that with markets touching new highs, it will help improve risk management.

 

He said that SEBI's steps were broadly taken to ensure the safety of small investors. "I think it's important that the regulators take measures to calibrate what is required for the small investors and whatever is not required...and that's where I think broadly, it should have the desired effect."  End
