India Apr-Sept coal output up 32% on year at 79.72 mln tn

MUMBAI – Coal production and dispatch from both captive and commercial coal mines in India have seen a significant rise in the first six months of the financial year 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), the Ministry of Coal said in a release on Thursday.
Coal production rose 32% on year to 79.72 million tonnes in Apr-Sept from 60.52 million tonnes in the first half of FY24. Similarly, dispatch rose 34% on year to 87.86 million tonnes in the first half of FY25 from 65.37 million tonnes in the same period in FY24.
The country's coal production in September rose 32% on year to 13.74 million tonnes from 10.4 million tonnes a year ago. India's dispatch in September also rose 47% to 14.27 million tonnes from 9.68 million tonnes a year ago. End
