--RBI: Weighted avg rate on new bk loans 9.41% Aug, up 1 bp from Jul
MUMBAI – The weighted average lending rate on new bank loans rose 1 basis point to 9.41% in August from 9.40% in July, according to data released on Monday by the Reserve Bank of India. The weighted average lending rate on outstanding rupee loans in August remained unchanged at 9.91%, the data showed.
Data also showed that the 1-year median marginal cost of fund-based lending rate of scheduled commercial banks rose 5 basis points to 8.95% in September from 8.90% in the previous month. The central bank data showed the share of loans linked to external benchmark-based lending rates rose to 57.5% of the total outstanding floating rate rupee loans at the end of June from 56.6% at the end of March.
The weighted average domestic term deposit rate on fresh rupee term deposits fell 2 bps on month to 6.46% in August, while the weighted average term deposit rate on outstanding rupee deposits rose 1 bp to 6.93%.
