India gets 197% above normal rains today, 7% above normal since Jun 1

--IMD: India Jun 1-Sep 27 rainfall at 917.8 mm, 7% above normal
MUMBAI – Rainfall across the country today was 12.2 mm, 197% above the normal of 4.1 mm, according to the India Meteorological Department. Since Jun 1, the country has received 917.8 mm of rainfall, 7% above the normal of 857.5 mm for the period, it said.
Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, three regions received above normal rainfall and one region received below normal showers. East and northeast India received rainfall that was 176% above normal at 25.1 mm. Northwest India received a whopping 535% above rainfall at 7 mm, and central India received 298% above normal rain at 15.9 mm. Rainfall was 36% below normal at 3.3 mm in the southern peninsula.
So far in the season, rainfall has been normal in 21 of the 36 subdivisions in the country. Rainfall was "excess" in nine, and "deficient" in four subdivisions, it said. Rainfall was "large excess" in two subdivisions, it said. End
