--IMD: India Sep 25 rainfall at 7.8 mm, 47% above normal

--IMD: India Jun 1-Sep 25 rainfall at 894.7 mm, 5% above normal

MUMBAI – Rainfall across the country today was 7.8 mm, 47% above the normal of 5.3 mm, according to the India Meteorological Department. Since Jun 1, the country has received 894.7 mm of rainfall, 5% above the normal of 848.5 mm for the period, it said.

Of the four homogeneous regions in the country, three regions received above normal rainfall and one region received below normal showers. East and northeast India received rainfall that was 18% above normal at 11.9 mm. Central India received 139% above rainfall at 10.8 mm, and the southern peninsula received 104% above normal rains at 11.2 mm. Rainfall was 92% below normal in northwest India at 0.3 mm.

So far in the season, rainfall has been normal in 18 of the 36 subdivisions in the country. Rainfall was "excess" in 11, and "deficient" in five subdivisions, it said. Rainfall was "large excess" in two subdivisions, it said.  End
