NEW DELHI – Rainfall activity is likely to be below normal over all the homogenous regions in the country during the next seven days as conditions are likely to become favourable for withdrawal of the southwest monsoon current, according to the India Meteorological Department. Conditions are expected to become favourable for monsoon withdrawal from northwest India around Monday, the bureau said.

However, the agency has forecast that some parts of the country are expected to receive some amount of precipitation during the next one week. Heavy rainfall is expected over parts of central India over the next seven days under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, which lies over southeast Rajasthan and neighbouring areas, the IMD said today.

In central India, some parts of east Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are likely to receive heavy rainfall during Mon-Wed, and west Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha during Tue-Wed, the weather agency said in a bulletin.

Widespread rainfall is also expected over several states of eastern and northeastern India next week, the agency said. In northwest India, the weather bureau expects moderate rainfall over some places during the next seven days.

Similarly, in the southern peninsula, widespread rainfall is likely over some parts of Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, coastal and north interior Karnataka next week. However, the weather agency expects hot and humid weather conditions to prevail in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal over the next few days.  End
