Govt appoints Disinvestment Secy Tuhin Kanta Pandey as finance secy

NEW DELHI - The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has appointed senior bureaucrat and Disinvestment Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey as finance secretary, the government said in an order late Saturday. Pandey replaces T.V. Somanathan, who has now been appointed Cabinet secretary.
Pandey is a 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of Odisha cadre. He is also in charge of the Department of Public Enterprises under the finance ministry.
The senior-most secretary in the Ministry of Finance is designated as the finance secretary, as per the convention. End
