India tea output in July falls 14.4% YoY to 146.84 mln kg, says Tea Board

MUMBAI – India's tea production in July declined 14.4% on year to 146.84 mln kg, according to data released by the Tea Board of India. The country produced 171.53 mln kg of tea in the same time period last year.
North India contributed 85% to the total output in July at 124.16 mln kg, as per the data. Within this, Assam accounted for 53.3% of the tea produced at 78.30 mln kg. Similarly, West Bengal contributed 28.3% to the total output at 41.59 mln kg of tea during the month.
Southern states produced 22.68 mln kg of tea during July, accounting for 15.4% of the country's total production. Within south India, Tamil Nadu produced 18.21 mln kg, accounting for 12.4% of the total production in the country and Kerala produced 4.24 mln kg of tea in June, the tea board data showed.
India's tea production in the first seven months of the year, Jan-Jul, has fallen 13.4% on year to 552.83 mln kg, from 638.65 mln kg a year ago. End
