RBI cautions public against fraudulent activities in its name

MUMBAI – The Reserve Bank of India cautioned the public against fraudulent activities using its name. In a press statement, the central bank advised the public not to respond to people or entities using its name, and to report such incidents to law enforcement agencies.
Use of fake letterheads and email addresses of the RBI, impersonation as employees of the RBI, intimidation tactics, and fake RBI accreditation are some of the modus operandi used by fraudsters, the press release said.
The central bank said no one should share digital banking information with unidentified persons, and to refer to the list of its regulated entities on the RBI website. End
