AHMEDABAD - Reliance Industries Ltd plans to add 1.5 mln tn per annum of poly vinyl chloride and composite poly vinyl chloride capacity at Dahej and Nagothane by the year 2026-27 (Apr-Mar), Chairman Mukesh Ambani said today.
Speaking at the company's 47th annual general meeting, Ambani said that RIL is adding a million tonne of specialty polyester capacity by 2026-27, which will be further integrated backwards with 3 mln tn terephthalic acid capacity by 2027.
On Aug 31, 2022, Ambani had announced the tripling of PVC capacity by building facilities at Dahej and Jamnagar, and that Reliance Industries would invest 750 bln rupees to expand its oils-to-chemical business over five years and focus on polymers, vinyls and carbon fibre.
Reliance Industries is building India's first integrated carbon fibre plant at Hazira to meet the demand for traditional polymers. It would also continue to expand the portfolio of composites of carbon fibre for use in the infrastructure sector.
Ambani also said that Reliance Industries is adding three more very large ethane carriers to the existing fleet of six ethane carriers used to source ethane from North America. This, Ambani said, would help Reliance Industries enhance its global feedstock sourcing and improve the supply chain.
On the National Stock Exchange, shares of Reliance Industries closed 1.5% higher at 3,041.85 rupees. End
