PM Modi chairs council of ministers' meeting, briefed on infra plans

NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a meeting of council of ministers and reviewed various decisions taken during the third term of the National Democratic Alliance government. The prime minister took stock of the roadmap for 2047 Viksit Bharat vision of the government.
Held at the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, this was the first meeting of the full-fledged council of ministers after the Modi government was sworn-in to power for the third consecutive term in June. During the meeting, officials said, the prime minister was briefed on the work done under 100-day action plan set by the government for various ministries. A Group of Secretaries made presentation on infrastructure roadmap for next five years and for 2047. The prime minister also held detailed discussion on the 2047 Viksit Bharat vision of the government and the work undertaken by the ministries to realise it.
Viksit Bharat @2047 is the vision to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th year of independence. The vision encompasses various aspects of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister chaired the meeting of the 44th edition of PRAGATI, a platform for pro-active governance and timely implementation, involving the Centre and state governments. Modi reviewed seven significant projects, including two projects relating to road connectivity, two rail projects and one project each of the coal, power and water resources sectors. The cost of these projects totalled more than 765 bln rupees and these relate to 11 states and Union territories.
Prime Minister Modi also chaired a Cabinet meeting earlier today which approved the development of 12 industrial smart cities under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme with an investment of 286.02 bln rupees. End
