NEW DELHI – The Delhi High Court today referred to arbitration an employment agreement dispute between BharatPe and the company's former managing director, Ashneer Grover. The court directed the appointment of a single arbitrator to resolve the dispute.

BharatPe had moved the high court alleging that Grover had disclosed confidential information on social media and violated the employment agreement signed in 2021. Grover had sought arbitration at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, where a dispute regarding the company's shareholders' agreement was being heard. Contesting this, BharatPe said the employment agreement specified arbitration at the Delhi International Arbitration Centre. The court agreed with BharatPe's stand.

Earlier, the high court had fined Grover 20 mln rupees for violating its order regarding social media posts by him against the company. Grover then deleted the posts and apologised to the court.

The court is also hearing a case from BharatPe against Grover and his family members, seeking damages of 886.7 mln rupees for alleged cheating and embezzlement of funds. The damages included a monetary loss of 830 mln rupees allegedly incurred by BharatPe because of misappropriation of funds and 50 mln rupees for the loss and injury caused to the brand and applicable taxes.  End
