Govt appoints Culture Secy Mohan as home secy from Aug 22

NEW DELHI – The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Culture Secretary Govind Mohan as the next secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Mohan, a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Sikkim cadre, will take over the role of home secretary from Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who has held the post since August 2019.
Mohan will join the home ministry as an Officer on Special Duty immediately. He will take over the role of home secretary after Bhalla's tenure ends on Aug 22.
Prior to becoming culture secretary in September 2021, Mohan was an additional secretary in the home ministry.
Mohan's appointment comes days after Finance Secretary T.V. Somanathan was appointed as cabinet secretary for two years from Aug 30, replacing Rajiv Gauba, who has held the position since August 2019.
The appointment order for Mohan did not mention the tenure of his role as home secretary. End
