MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy-to-very-heavy rainfall over parts of the south peninsula for the next five days. The weather bureau predicted extremely heavy rainfall over Lakshadweep today and heavy-to-very-heavy rainfall over Kerala and South Interior Karnataka today and Thursday.
Heavy rainfall is likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh today, over south interior Karnataka on Friday and Saturday, over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal till Sunday, over Kerala from Friday to Sunday and over Lakshadweep from Thursday to Sunday.
Heavy rainfall is also likely to continue over the western Himalayan Region, Uttar Pradesh and east India during the next seven days and over Rajasthan during the next three to four days, it said.
In northwest India, it has predicted very heavy rainfall over east Rajasthan today and heavy rainfall over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh and east Rajasthan today and Thursday, over Jammu till Friday, over Himachal Pradesh till Sunday, over Uttarakhand till Tuesday, over Uttar Pradesh from Friday to Tuesday and west Rajasthan till Saturday.
In west and central India, it has predicted heavy rainfall over Gujarat today, over west Madhya Pradesh today and Thursday, over east Madhya Pradesh today and Thursday and from Sunday to Tuesday and over Chhattisgarh during the next 7 days.
In east and northeast India, very heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha today and over Gangetic West Bengal on Friday and Saturday. Heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha from Friday to Saturday, over Arunachal Pradesh today and Monday, over Assam and Meghalaya today and Thursday and Monday to Tuesday, over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on Friday and Saturday, over Gangetic West Bengal today and Thursday and on Sunday, over Bihar, Jharkhand and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during next 7 days.
