MUMBAI – BSE Ltd said on Tuesday it has appointed Ramesh Gurram as its new chief information security officer, who will join the company on Sep 30. Gurram is currently the chief information security officer of Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd and is serving the notice after putting in his resignation on Jul 1.

BSE, earlier, had a chief information security officer Shivkumar Pandey, who had resigned in September last year and ceased to hold the post from Dec 4. Pandey was reported to have joined the Adani Group as the chief information security officer. The post has been lying vacant after Pandey left.

Typically, chief information security officers of companies ensure mitigation of cyber security threats and risks and are responsible for policies and systems to protect the company from cyber attacks and other risks to information and data stored internally or on the internet through cloud-based services.

BSE deems the chief information security officer to be a key management personnel and a senior management post. BSE currently has a chief information officer Subhash Kelkar and a chief risk officer Khushro Bulsara. These positions are also considered key management personnel and senior management posts by the exchange.

Today, shares of BSE ended 3.5% higher at 2,398.55 rupees on the National Stock Exchange.  End
