Govt raised 3.86 trln rupees through asset monetisation in FY22-FY24

NEW DELHI – The government has raised 3.86 trln rupees through the monetisation of assets in the last three financial years, as part of the National Monetisation Pipeline, the finance ministry said today. The monetisation pipeline, announced in the Union Budget for 2021-22 (Apr-Mar), included assets with a monetisation potential of 6 trln rupees during the four-year period ending 2024-25.

 

Under the pipeline, the coal sector raised the most amount of funds through asset monetisation to the tune of 1.54 trln rupees in the last three years, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written response to the Lok Sabha today.

 

The road sector raised 815.56 bln rupees through the monetisation of assets, the power sector raised 335.12 bln rupees, and the mines sector raised 326.51 bln rupees during the period, Chaudhary said.

 

The other sectors that raised funds through asset monetisation were railways, oil, shipping, telecom, civil aviation, warehousing and the urban sectors.  End
