India July power generation up 6.35% at 134.33 bln kWh

KOLKATA – India's electricity generation in July rose 6.35% year-on-year but fell 3.91% quarter-on-quarter to 134.33 bln kWh, data released by the Central Electricity Authority of India showed. In July 2023, total power generation from all the sources was 126.31 bln kWh and in June this year it was 139.79 bln kWh.
Total electricity generation includes power bought from Bhutan.
Thermal power generation rose 7.88% year-on-year to 111.31 bln kWh in July and nuclear power generation increased 20.13% to 4.75 bln kWh. Hydropower generation fell 4.84% to 17.06 bln kWh in July.
Total electricity generated in the Apr-Jul period was 555.48 bln kWh, up 10.18% from the corresponding period of last year. The country has set an electricity generation target of 1.66 trln kWh for 2024-25 (Apr-Mar).
