--IMD: India rainfall in week to today 4% above normal at 68.3 mm
MUMBAI – India received 68.3 mm rainfall in the week ended today, 4% above the normal weighted average of 65.5 mm for the period, according to the India Meteorological Department. During the week, two homogeneous regions received below-normal rainfall, while the other two received above-normal rainfall.
Rainfall in east and northeast India was 49% below normal at 44.7 mm and northwest India received 30% below-normal showers at 37.3 mm, according to the data. In central India, rainfall was 44% above normal at 110.4 mm during the week, while precipitation in the southern peninsula was 37% above normal at 63.8 mm.
Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall was "normal" in 10 subdivisions and "excess" in eight subdivisions. The country received "large excess" showers in five subdivisions and "deficient" in eight subdivisions. Rainfall was 'large deficient' in five subdivisions.
Since Jun 1, India has received 453.8 mm of rainfall, 2% above the normal level of 445.8 mm for the period. End
