BHEL Apr-Jun sales seen at 56.4 bln-62.2 bln rupees

MUMBAI – Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd's standalone revenue for the quarter is expected to be in the range of 56.38 bln rupees to 62.22 bln rupees for Apr-Jun, compared with 50.03 bln rupees in the year-ago period and 82.60 bln rupees in the March quarter, according to the estimates of the three brokerage firms. The highest estimate for revenue was provided by Prabhudas Lilladher, while Nuvama Wealth Management gave the lowest revenue estimate.
The company is expected to post a net loss of 2.60 bln rupees or 3.28 bln rupees for the quarter ended June, according to the estimates of Nuvama Wealth Management and Kotak Institutional Equities, respectively. Prabhudas Lilladher, on the other hand, sees a net profit of 787 mln rupees. The company had reported a net loss of 3.52 bln rupees in the year-ago period and a net profit of 4.84 bln rupees in Jan-Mar.
Prabhudas Lilladher sees the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation for the quarter at 2.18 bln rupees. On the other hand, Nuvama Wealth Management and Kotak Institutional Equities predict it to post an operating loss of 2.82 bln rupees and 2.75 bln rupees, respectively.
The company is set to declare its June quarter earnings on Wednesday. Kotak Institutional Equities said in a report that it expects 15% year-on-year revenue growth for the company on execution of large order book, driven by the power and industrial segments. However, it expects EBITDA margin to be negative in a seasonally weak quarter.
Prabhudas Lilladher sees BHEL's revenue growing 24% on year, with healthy execution across both power and industry segments. The brokerage sees the company’s operating margin at 3.5%, against a loss of 7.3% in the year ago period, led by a pick up in execution. Execution pace, thermal project pipeline, defence prospects, and supply chain will be key monitorables, the brokerage added. Today, shares of Bharat Heavy closed 0.8% higher at 311.55 rupees on the National Stock Exchange.
