MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rainfall over parts of central Maharashtra till Saturday. The bureau expects similar weather conditions in the Gujarat region today and parts of Konkan and Goa till Friday.  

 

The weather bureau recorded exceptionally heavy rainfall over the Ghat areas of Pune on Wednesday, while Tamhini Ghat received 560 mm of rainfall. Parts of Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, and east Madhya Pradesh received extremely heavy rainfall on Wednesday.   

 

Very heavy rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh till Friday and, Saurashtra, Kutch, Vidarbha, and Marathwada today, the weather bureau said. Konkan and Goa are also likely to receive very heavy rainfall till Sunday and central Maharashtra on Sunday and Monday, it said. Similar conditions are also likely over parts of Gujarat on Friday and Saturday.   

 

The weather bureau also predicts very heavy rainfall over parts of east Rajasthan today and Uttarakhand on Friday and Saturday. Similar weather conditions are also very likely over parts of Odisha today and Friday, it said. 

 

Very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of south interior Karnataka and coastal Karnataka till Saturday, while in north interior Karnataka, similar weather conditions are expected till Friday.  

 

In the ongoing southwest monsoon season, India received weighted average rainfall of 385.3 mm as of Wednesday, 1?ove the normal of 380.3 mm.  End
