MUMBAI – India received 80.5 mm rainfall in the week ended today, 41% above the normal weighted average of 57.2 mm for the period, according to the India Meteorological Department. During the week, two homogeneous regions received above-normal rainfall while the other two received below-normal rainfall.
Rainfall in east and northeast India was 44% below normal at 46.6 mm, while central India received 107% above-normal showers at 137.8 mm, according to the data. In northwest India, rainfall was 21% below normal at 34.1 mm during the week, while precipitation in the southern peninsula was 97% above normal at 82.6 mm.
Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall was "normal" in 7 subdivisions and "excess" in three subdivisions. The country received "large excess" showers in 12 subdivisions and "deficient" in 12 subdivisions. Rainfall was 'large deficient' in two subdivisions.
Since Jun 1, India has received 385.3 mm of rainfall, 1% above the normal level of 380.3 mm for the period. End
