MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rainfall over central Maharashtra and parts of Gujarat till Thursday. The weather bureau said exceptionally heavy rainfall is likely over Gujarat today under the influence of a cyclonic circulation that lies over the state. Parts of Konkan and Goa are also likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall today, it said.
The weather bureau has also forecast very heavy rainfall over parts of Chhattisgarh today, over Madhya Pradesh till Thursday, over Konkan and Goa from Thursday to Saturday, over central Maharashtra on Friday and Saturday and Gujarat State from Friday to Sunday.
Very heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of west Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan today, according to the weather bureau. Some parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan are likely to receive very heavy rainfall from Wednesday to Sunday. Similar weather conditions are likely over Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, southeast Uttar Pradesh till Thursday and west Uttar Pradesh till Saturday, it said.
Some parts of south Interior Karnataka are likely to receive very heavy rainfall today and coastal Karnataka till Thursday, the weather department said. Very heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of Odisha till Friday, it said. End
