NEW DELHI – The government has allocated 3 trln rupees for schemes benefitting women and girls, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while presenting the Union Budget for 2024-25 (Apr-Mar) today. The government will set up working women's hostels and creches in collaboration with industry to increase the participation of women in workforce.
"In addition, the partnership will seek to organise women-specific skilling programmes, and promotion of market access for women SHG (self help groups) enterprises," Sitharaman said. The government also proposed lowering stamp duties on properties purchased by women, as a part of urban development schemes.
To achieve social justice comprehensively, the government is supporting economic activities by scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, women entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and street vendors by stepping up schemes like PM Vishwakarma, PM SVANidhi, National Livelihood Missions, and Stand-Up India.
"Our government is committed to all-round, all-pervasive and all-inclusive development of people, particularly, farmers, youth, women and poor," she said.
To improve the socio-economic conditions of tribals, the government will launch the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan to cover 63,000 villages benefitting 50 mln tribal people in tribal-majority villages and aspirational districts. End
