MUMBAI - Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said that the government will launch a comprehensive scheme for providing internship opportunities to 10 mln youth in five years. The internships will be provided to youth in the top 500 companies.
While presenting the Budget for 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), Sitharaman said youth will gain exposure for 12 months to a real-life business environment, varied professions, and employment opportunities. They will also get an internship allowance of 5,000 rupees per month along with one-time assistance of 6,000 rupees.
The companies will be expected to bear the training cost and 10% of the internship cost from their corporate social responsibility funds, the minister said. End
