MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department today forecast extremely heavy rainfall over Gujarat state, Konkan, Goa, and madhya Maharashtra till Wednesday. Similar rainfall activity may be seen in west Madhya Pradesh today, the weather bureau said.

 

Very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Madhya Pradesh and Odisha till Wednesday and over Gujarat on Thursday and Friday. Very heavy rainfall is also likely over Uttarakhand till Tuesday. The same rainfall intensity will be seen over west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana on Tuesday and over east Rajasthan on Tuesday and Wednesday.

 

Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is very likely over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, east Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and east Uttar Pradesh over the next five days. Scattered rainfall is expected over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and west Rajasthan during the same period, the agency said.

 

Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over northeast India during the next five days. Heavy rainfall is very likely over parts of Assam and Meghalaya during the next five days and over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur till Wednesday, the agency said. 

 

Over the past 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall was seen over a few areas of coastal Karnataka, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya. Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, east Rajasthan, interior Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and north interior Karnataka received similar rainfall today, the agency said.  End
