NEW DELHI - The Union Budget for 2024-25 (Apr-Mar), which will be presented on Tuesday, will lay out the roadmap for the next five years for the country and will also set the path to reach the goal of making India a developed economy by 2047, Prime Minister Narenda Modi said today.
"This session (of Parliament) will set foundation for people's aspirations," Modi said while addressing media ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which begins today. "The Budget will be based on tenets of promises I have made to the people of India," he said.
Modi said the government will work for women, farmers, youth, and the poor of the country for the next five years.
India is currently at the peak of investment opportunities, he said. The prime minister urged all political parties to work together for the next five years to build the nation. "It is a matter of pride for us that India is the fastest growing major economy in the world. We are growing at 8%," Modi said.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on Tuesday, where the government is expected to continue its focus on fiscal consolidation while announcing measures to boost consumption demand in the economy. She will table the Economic Survey for 2023-24 in Parliament today. End
