NITI Aayog reconstituted, Minister Chouhan, Minister Nadda on panel

NEW DELHI – The government has reconstituted NITI Aayog by including a host of ministers as ex-officio and special invitees after the Cabinet rejig in June following the general elections. The government has included Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan as an ex-officio member, replacing Narendra Singh Tomar. Chouhan was inducted into the Union Cabinet in June.
The government also brought changes to the special invitees list and added more ministers than it had before. It has doubled the count of special invitees on the panel to 10 ministers. The newly appointed ministers include Minister of Health, and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilisers J.P. Nadda, Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jiatn Ram Manjhi, Minister of Panchayati Raj Lalan Singh, Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan, Minister of Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi, and Minister of Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan.
These ministers replaced Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Railways Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw.
Road Minister Nitin Gadkari, Social Justice Minister Virendra Kumar, and Minister of State for Statistics Ministry Rao Inderjit Singh have retained their positions.
There is no change in full-time members of NITI Aayog, according to a Cabinet Secretariat notification.
NITI Aayog, which replaced the Planning Commission, was set up in 2015 as a policy think tank of the government. End
