India coffee exports up 70% on year in Jun, silver imports up 377%

MUMBAI – India's exports of coffee, tea, rice, fruits, and vegetables rose year-on-year in June, while those of oilmeal, oilseeds, other cereals, meat, dairy, poultry products, gems and jewellery fell, according to data released by the commerce ministry. India's imports of vegetable oil, pulses, petroleum products, silver, fruits, and vegetables rose in June on year, while those of gold, cotton raw and cotton waste fell, according to the data.

 

The value of India's coffee exports rose 70% on year to $196.99 mln from $115.87 mln a year ago. Rice exports in June rose 1% to $852.05 mln from $843.83 mln in the same period last year. The value of tea exports in June was $62.76 mln, against $60.82 mln a year ago, the data showed. India's exports of fruits and vegetables rose 7% on year to $250.47 mln. Spices' exports were up 9.8% on year in June at $320.52 mln.

 

However, exports of oilmeal in June fell 12.3% on year to $84.49 mln. Similarly, oilseed exports fell 18.8% on year to $109.71 mln. Exports of other cereals dropped 77.6% on year to $18.76 mln. Gems and jewellery exports fell 1.4% on year to $2.25 bln. Exports of meat, dairy, and poultry products were down 13.9% at $311.54 mln in June.

 

The value of vegetable oil imports rose to $1.42 bln in June from $1.30 bln in June 2023. The value of imports of pulses was up 69% at $366.61 mln. Silver imports rose by a massive 377% to $210.71 mln. India's import of fruits and vegetables also rose 22.6% on year in June to $241 mln. Imports of petroleum, crude and products were up 19.6% at $15.05 bln. Iron and steel imports rose 12.6% on year to $1.8 bln.

 

However, imports of gold fell 38.7% on year to $3.06 bln. Cotton raw and cotton waste imports fell 26.2% on year to $70.22 mln in June. End
