India Apr-Jul spices exports 487,688 tn, down 26% on year, says Spices Board

NEW DELHI – Exports of spices from India declined 26% on year to 487,688 tonnes in Apr-Jul from 654,936 tonnes a year earlier, according to data from Spices Board of India. In value terms, spice exports rose 4% on year to INR 138.19 billion, the report showed.
India's exports of nutmeg and mace fell the most in Apr-Jul, declining 30% on year to 1,036 tonnes from 1,486 tonnes, the data showed. Jeera exports fell 25% to 58,821 tonnes from 78,278 tonnes a year ago. Coriander exports fell 20% on year to 18,678 tonnes. Fenugreek exports fell 24% on year to 12,841 tonnes, the data showed. Exports of garlic fell 19% to 13,228 tonnes. Exports of other spices, including asafoetida, cinnamon, cassia, cambodge, and saffron, fell 15% to 14,541 tonnes in Apr-Jul, according to the data.
On the other hand, exports of mint products, which include menthol, menthol crystals, and other mint oils, rose 9% on year to 8,477 tonnes, according to the data. Exports of tamarind rose 2% on year to 16,242 tonnes. Turmeric exports increased 4% on year to 65,476 tonnes. Exports of small cardamom rose 24% on year to 3,722 tonnes in Apr-Jul, the report said.
