India CPI-AL inflation rises to 5.18% in Aug from 4.68% in July

NEW DELHI – India's annual inflation rate based on CPI for agricultural labourers rose to 5.18% in August from 4.68% in July, according to data released by the labour bureau Friday. Inflation based on CPI for rural labourers rose to 4.83% in August from 4.27% a month earlier.
The rise in inflation for agricultural and rural labourers is in line with the increase in headline CPI inflation, which rose to a 20-month high of 4.82% in August from 4.45% in July, staying above the Reserve Bank of India's medium-term target of 4% for the third consecutive month.
The overall index for agricultural labourers in August was at 143.40, up from 141.65 in July, while the index for rural labourers rose to 143.20 from 141.46.
CPI for agricultural labourers and CPI for rural labourers are used to revise minimum wages for agricultural and rural labour in different states. End
