MUMBAI – Exports of spices from India declined 25% on year to 390,590 tonnes in Apr-Jun from 519,477 tonnes a year earlier, Spices Board of India data showed. In value terms, spice exports rose 5% on year to INR 107.26 billion, the report said. 

 

India's exports of nutmeg and mace fell the most in Apr-Jun, declining 35% on year to 704 tonnes from 1,075 tonnes, the data showed. Jeera exports fell 24% to 47,916 tonnes from 62,861 a year ago. Coriander exports also fell 24% on year to 14,556 tonnes. Fenugreek exports fell 23% on year to 10,291 tonnes, the data showed. Exports of garlic fell 13% to 10,597 tonnes. Exports of other spices, including asafoetida, cinnamon, cassia, cambodge, and saffron, fell 11% to 11,001 tonnes in Apr-Jun, according to the data. 

 

On the other hand, exports of mint products, which include menthol, menthol crystals, and other mint oils, rose 20% on year to 6,485 tonnes, according to the data. Exports of tamarind rose 11% on year to 13,147 tonnes. Turmeric exports increased 8% on year to 51,987 tonnes. Exports of celery rose by 4% on year to 1,404 tonnes in Apr-Jun, the report said.
